Credit: CTV NEWS Landslides in Chile tend to be a little common due to the excessive amounts of earthquakes on a daily basis. Just recently, on August 23rd, a landslide in Vina Del Mar occurred because of heavy rains. It was the dangerous and pounding rains that caused this great landslide. In turn, according to Reuters, they state that, "More than 26,000 people remain cut off from basic services and almost 34,000 have been evacuated, according to the Chilean disaster agency Senapred. Some 38,000 are without electricity in the affected area that is home to rural farming communities." This is detrimental because the president had to call a state of catastraphe.
