      Landslides in Chile tend to be a little common due to the excessive amounts of earthquakes on a daily basis. Just recently, on August 23rd, a landslide in Vina Del Mar occurred because of heavy rains. It was the dangerous and pounding rains that caused this great landslide. In turn, according to Reuters, they state that, "More than 26,000 people remain cut off from basic services and almost 34,000 have been evacuated, according to the Chilean disaster agency Senapred. Some 38,000 are without electricity in the affected area that is home to rural farming communities." This is detrimental because the president had to call a state of catastraphe. 

Mudflows can also be very common as well because of their heavy rains. Due to climate change, scientists also believe that Chile will start experiencing more commonly, wildfires, and extreme weather. More rainfall and tsunamis are now to be expected. Due to the amount of earthquakes in Chile, rockfalls are serious there as well. A lot of this can also come from the fact of how near they are to the Ring of Fire.

 Extreme Weather in Chile Credit: CNBC      This photo is of a place in Chile, reports say that South American countries have been breaking record with heatwaves in August. As CNBC states, "Chile’s national weather agency said several weather stations nationwide recorded temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius at the start of the month". This means that the temperature was 101 degrees which is definitely out of the ordinary for Chile. The news station CNBC also states, "A study published last month found that the heatwaves baking vast swathes of North America, Europe and Asia in July would have been “virtually impossible” without the human-induced climate crisis. Scientists say the extreme weather sweeping across the globe reaffirms the urgency of cutting greenhouse gas emissions as quickly and deeply as possible".  Coastal Erosion in Chile Credit : Science Direct          When researching, Chile happens to be a country that is in third place when experiencing the amount of coastal erosion that they do. As an article from "Sustainability " states, "In the last decades, coastal storms have triggered unprecedented erosion rates and structural damage in several cities along the Chilean coastline [30]. The effects of these events have sometimes been aggravated by earthquakes, which in turn trigger tsunamis and changes in land elevation".
