This photo is of a place in Chile, reports say that South American countries have been breaking record with heatwaves in August. As CNBC states, "Chile’s national weather agency said several weather stations nationwide recorded temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius at the start of the month". This means that the temperature was 101 degrees which is definitely out of the ordinary for Chile. The news station CNBC also states, "A study published last month found that the heatwaves baking vast swathes of North America, Europe and Asia in July would have been “virtually impossible” without the human-induced climate crisis. Scientists say the extreme weather sweeping across the globe reaffirms the urgency of cutting greenhouse gas emissions as quickly and deeply as possible". This is basically explaining that without climate change, our planet would not have been able to do this normally. It is only happening because of the green house gasses that we have been emitting, but if we can reduce these levels, maybe we can lower these results.

Hopefully Chile can help with this in terms of the elderly and their homes getting too hot. To also have stations with water fountains all over and to very much make this a situation of worry amongst their country. If they can do that, they can create change and prevent against more heatwaves. As another station named NBC news also states, “Tuesday was the warmest day in northern Chile in about 72 years, so that gives you an idea of how rare and extreme temperatures in recent days have been,” said Raúl Cordero, a climatologist at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands". To put in other words, this is a great upcoming problem for Chile and something needs to change.
